Is Phuket too touristy?
Parts of it (Patong) can feel crowded, but Phuket is large enough to escape. Kata Noi, Surin, and the north of the island are much more relaxed.
What's the best way to get around Phuket?
Rent a scooter ($8–12/day) for maximum freedom. Grab works in some areas. Songthaews run the main routes but are slower.
Is Phuket good for solo travelers?
Very — massive backpacker scene, easy to meet people, and countless tours depart daily from Patong.
