Lima FAQs

Is Lima just a stopover for Machu Picchu?

Most people treat it that way — don't. Lima deserves 3–4 days. The food scene is exceptional and Miraflores is a genuinely beautiful neighborhood.

Is Lima safe?

Miraflores and Barranco are safe for tourists. Centro Histórico is fine during the day. Avoid San Juan de Lurigancho and other outer districts.

What is Peruvian ceviche?

Fresh raw fish cured in lime juice with onion, chili, and cilantro. Served with corn and sweet potato. Different from other Latin American versions — brighter, spicier, and served at room temperature.
