Buenos Aires is one of the great cities of the world. Exceptional food (the steaks and wine are extraordinary), a tango culture that's alive in milongas across the city, stunning European architecture, and a 3am nightlife start time that makes Barcelona look early.

Is Argentina expensive after the economic crisis?
Argentina is complex — use the "blue dollar" (unofficial exchange rate, accessible via exchange houses) and your USD goes very far. Official rate is much less favorable.
Is Buenos Aires safe?
Palermo, Recoleta, San Telmo, and Puerto Madero are safe. Avoid La Boca at night. Use Uber, be mindful of pickpockets, and don't use your phone visibly on the street.
What's a parrilla?
An Argentinian steakhouse — they grill over wood embers, not gas. Order a bife de chorizo (sirloin) or asado. A full meal with wine costs $15–25.
